Aircraft Life Support Equip II at Amentum
The Aircraft Survival Flight Equipment Technician II manages, performs, and schedules inspections, maintenance, and adjustments of assigned aircrew flight equipment (AFE), associated supplies, and inventories assets.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Inspects, maintains, packs and adjusts aircrew flight equipment such as flight helmets, oxygens masks, parachutes, flotation devices, survival kits, helmet mounted devices, aircrew night vision and other ocular systems, anti-G garments, aircrew eye and respiratory protective equipment, chemical biological protective oxygen masks and coveralls, and other types of AFE and aircrew chemical defense systems.
- Repairs fabric and rubber components, including protective clothing, thermal radiation barriers, flotation equipment, and various parachutes.
- Evaluates problems and determines feasibility of repair or replacement related to inspecting and repairing fabric, rubber equipment, and parachutes.
- Evaluates work orders for fabrication of authorized items.
- Operational and circuit checks for emergency signaling and communication devices such as survival radios and beacons.
- Leadership ability is required, assign and monitor; Ensure safety procedures are followed for the following: removal, handling, installation, and storage of ordnance, pre-operational and operational usage of the mobile refilling station.
- Must be able and available to work all shifts on site.
Additional duties include:
- Housekeeping of all areas of work including shop; participate in FOD program.
- Obtain Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative qualification.
- Obtain Ordnance qualification (Individual).
- Comply with all safety requirements.
- Handling and disposing of Hazmat.
- Obtain all support equipment licenses for job description.
- Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
Work is performed in a office environment that is moderately lighted, heated and ventilated, is exposed to disagreeable fumes and to cuts and bruises from using tools in close spaces and hazards of moving vehicles such as forklifts and support equipment outside of shop area. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines. The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance. Frequently lifts items weighing 20-30 pounds and occasionally in excess of 45 pounds. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; outside weather conditions; extreme cold, extreme heat; and risk of electrical shock. The work environment requires questioning nonstandard operations or environmental factors that may involve unmitigated hazards, and providing feedback to supervisors and managers on all safety issues.

Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of five (5) years actual and recent O level H-60 ASFE Maintenance experience or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years actual H60 ASFE CDI/CDQAR experience.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain all required qualifications and complete all Personal qualification standards within the allotted time as per site instructions.
- Must be able to work all shifts.
- Ability to read and write and interpret technical data and special operating instructions is required.
- Requires knowledge of mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance procedures, pyrotechnic and explosive devices, and aircraft egress systems.
- Detailed knowledge of the operation and characteristics of aircraft survival flight equipment and the ability to demonstrate and explain proper usage and operation of the equipment.
- A thorough working knowledge of applicable technical publication is required.
- Ability to use a computer, keyboard and mouse printer and be proficient using computer programs; Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, NALCOMIS/OOMA.
- Good verbal and written skills and leadership ability are required.
- Knowledge and use of special tools/equipment required to perform assigned maintenance tasks is mandatory.
- Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with and pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks.
Additional Requirements:
- Must have a valid Driver’s License.
- Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English.
- Must pass and maintain a U.S. Government background security check.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC) with a Tier 3 adjudication.
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen.
